Privacy policy

 

This Privacy Policy describes how the-namb-store.myshopify.com (the “Site” or “we”) collects, uses, and discloses your Personal Information when you visit or make a purchase from the Site. The Site is operated by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, Inc. (“NAMB”). This Privacy Policy applies only to the Site and does not apply to other websites operated by NAMB.

Collecting Personal Information

When you visit the Site, we collect certain information about your device, your interaction with the Site, and information necessary to process your purchases. We may also collect additional information if you contact us for customer support. In this Privacy Policy, we refer to any information that can uniquely identify an individual (including the information below) as “Personal Information”. Some of this information may be collected by third-party analytics tools and advertising networks, or other third-party providers of applications, tools and plug-ins. We and those third parties may collect information about you over time and across NAMB’s and third-party websites. See the list below for more information about what Personal Information we collect when you visit the Site and why.

Device information

  • Examples of Personal Information collected: Version of web browser, IP address, time zone, cookie information, what sites or products you view, search terms, and how you interact with the Site.
  • Purpose of collection: To load the Site accurately for you, and to perform analytics on Site usage to optimize our Site.
  • Source of collection: Collected automatically when you access our Site using cookies, log files, web beacons, tags, or pixels. On mobile devices, device identifiers, such as Apple iOS’ Identifiers for Advertisers (“IDFA”) or Google Android’s Advertising ID, may be used to monitor applications used on such a device. 
  • Disclosure for a business purpose: Shared with our processor Shopify. We use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site, and certain data is shared with Google Analytics for that purpose. Certain data may be shared with Google Adwords for advertising and/or remarketing purposes. We use HubSpot to track activity on the Site by recipients of certain emails from NAMB, and certain data is shared with HubSpot for that purpose.

Order information

  • Examples of Personal Information collected: Name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including payment card numbers, email address, and phone number. Payment card numbers are collected directly by our processor Shopify on the Site and are not collected by NAMB. 
  • Purpose of collection: To provide products or services to you to fulfill our contract, to process your payment information, arrange for shipping, and provide you with invoices and/or order confirmations, to establish your account with us and/or our processor Shopify to facilitate future purchases from the Site, to communicate with you, screen our orders for potential risk or fraud, and when in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.
  • Source of collection: Collected from you.
  • Disclosure for a business purpose: Shared with our processor Shopify. Shared with the order fulfillment service we engage to fulfill product orders. Shared with the shipping service we engage to send you the products you order. 

Customer support information

  • Examples of Personal Information collected: Name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including email address and phone number), copy of sales receipt.
  • Purpose of collection: To provide customer support.
  • Source of collection: Collected from you.
  • Disclosure for a business purpose: Shared with the order fulfillment service we engage to handle returns. Shared with Shopify to process refunds.

Minors

The Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not intentionally collect Personal Information from, or market products to, children. If you do not meet the age requirements set forth above, please do not enter your Personal Information on this Site or any other website operated by NAMB. If we become aware that we have collected any Personal Information from children under 16, we will promptly use commercially reasonable efforts to delete such information. If you are the parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us at legal@namb.net to request deletion.

Sharing Personal Information

We share your Personal Information with service providers to help us provide our services and fulfill our contracts with you, as described above. For example:

    • We use Shopify to power our online store. You can read more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information here: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.
    • We may share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
    • We share your Personal Information with the order fulfillment service we engage to fulfill customer orders and to handle product returns. We share your Personal Information with the shipping service we engage to send you the products you order.
  • We may share certain Personal Information with third parties for a business purpose, including for advertising and remarketing purposes, for the purpose of analyzing how you and others arrive at and use the Site and other websites, and for purposes of improving the operation and user experience of the Site.  

  • Behavioral Advertising

    As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. For example:

    • We share information about your use of the Site, your purchases, and your interaction with our ads on other websites with our advertising partners. We collect and share some of this information directly with our advertising partners, and in some cases through the use of cookies or other similar technologies (which you may consent to, depending on your location). These advertising partners include Google Adwords, Facebook (including Instagram) and Twitter. In addition, we use certain tools provided by HubSpot to track a user and the user’s activity while on the Site and other websites operated by NAMB when the user clicks on links in emails we may send the user, and this data is shared with HubSpot.

    Using Personal Information

    We use your Personal Information to provide our services to you, which includes: offering products for sale, processing payments, shipping and fulfillment of your order, and keeping you up to date on new products, services, and offers. We also use your Personal Information to analyze how users use the Site and other websites operated by NAMB, for advertising purposes and to understand how users interact with our advertising on third party websites, and to analyze and improve the operation and user experience of the Site. We may also use your Personal Information to communicate with you about NAMB’s other activities. 

    Retention

    When you place an order through the Site, we will retain your Personal Information for our records unless and until we erase it or you ask us to erase this information pursuant to rights you may have under applicable law. 


    Cookies

    A cookie is a small amount of information that’s downloaded to your computer or device when you visit our Site. We use a number of different cookies, including functional, performance, advertising, and social media or content cookies. Cookies make your browsing experience better by allowing the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login and region selection). This means you don’t have to re-enter this information each time you return to the site or browse from one page to another. Cookies also provide information on how people use the Site, such as whether it’s their first time visiting or if they are a frequent visitor, so that we can improve the operation and user experience of our Site and provide you with offers and advertising in response to your interests.

    Do Not Track

    Please note that because there is no consistent industry understanding of how to respond to “Do Not Track” signals, we do not alter our data collection and usage practices when we detect such a signal from your browser.

    Third-Party Websites

    This Privacy Policy applies only to the Site and does not apply to other websites operated by NAMB or to any third-party website. If you visit another website operated by NAMB, you are subject to the privacy policy applicable to that website, and you should review that privacy policy before you visit that website. If you visit any third-party website linked to the Site (for example, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube or other social media websites), you are subject to that third-party’s own privacy policies, which we do not control or monitor. You should review the privacy policies of all third-party websites before you visit them. NAMB has not reviewed all of the third-party websites linked to the Site, and NAMB makes no representations or warranties as to the privacy or security practices, functioning or content of any third-party websites linked to the Site.   


    Security of Personal Information

    NAMB has implemented and maintains reasonable technical, administrative and physical measures to safeguard any Personal Information that we may collect.


    Lost or Stolen Account Information

    If you have set up an account with us for use of the Site or any other website operated by NAMB, you are responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of any username, password or other login credentials relating to such account. If you know or suspect that your username, password or other login credential has been lost, stolen or used without your permission, you must notify NAMB promptly at legal@namb.net. In such event, we will remove the username, password or other login credential from our records and provide a way for you to establish a new username, password or other login credential.


    International Use

    The Site is intended for use by users and customers located in the United States of America, and as such, this Privacy Policy is intended to comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations of the United States and Canada. Despite the global nature of the internet, NAMB makes no claims that the Site or any other websites operated by NAMB are appropriate for viewing or use, or may be used or viewed, outside the United States or Canada. Our databases are located in the United States, but we may store data in other countries in which NAMB operates. By sending us your Personal Information or other data, you consent to its transfer to, and its processing and storage within the United States or Canada, and you authorize NAMB to use, transfer, process and store your Personal Information and other data in any other country where NAMB operates. Those who access this Site or any other website operated by NAMB do so on their own initiative, at their own risk, and are responsible for compliance with the local laws, rules and regulations of the jurisdiction from which they access the Site or any other website operated by NAMB. 


    Governing Law

    You agree that this policy and your use of the Site and any other website operated by NAMB shall be governed in all respects by the laws of the State of Georgia, even if the provisions thereof regarding conflicts of law would otherwise require the application of the law of another jurisdiction.  


    Updates and Changes to this Privacy Policy

    We reserve the right, at any time and without notice, to add to, update, change or modify this Privacy Policy, simply by posting such update, change or modification on this page. Any addition, update, change or modification will be effective immediately upon posting. Each time you use the Site, the then-current version of this Privacy Policy will apply. Additions, updates, changes or modifications may be made reasons that may include, without limitation, changes to our practices or other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
